you labour over the pawn,knight and queen
while I board over metaphors and prepositions

laws of arithmetic-but I choose not to follow them
you plan attack and defense,and become the game;
for you chess is a war where victory is obvious
but bob,I know not,if I ever could win
a war of words-for the words seem to slip
from the pages,as soon as I think them.
I pluck the rose,straw their petals,arrange-
And rearrange the pattern,as I do with words
Even if I had a cross bar,and archimedes to help,
I would not lift my dreams,heavy and bound
I know,bob,your dreams are light enough
To be carried by the wind,forget about archimedes
